Sciadopitys verticillata

Japanese Umbrella Pine. A conical to columnar-conical tree which has red-brown bark which peels in ribbons, it has brown shoots. The leaves are linear, grooved, glossy, dark green leaves which are olive-green underneath. It bears female cones singularly and male cones in clusters.

Grow in moderately fertile, moist but well-drained, neutral to slightly acidic soil in full sun or partial shade. It will reach a height of 10-20m and a spread of 6-8m.
