Pseudotsuga menziesii

Douglas Fir. A broadly conical tree when young which becomes columnar with spreading branches as it matures. The bark is smooth and grey and matures to become thick, corky, deeply ridged and red-brown in colour. It has soft, dark green leaves which open from red-brown buds.

Grow in any well-drained, non chalky soil, in full sun. It will reach a height of 25-50m and a spread of 6-10m.
