Quercus robur

English Oak. A large round-headed tree with fissured, grey-brown bark and matt dark green leaves. Bears ovoid acorns singularly or in clusters. Deciduous.

Grow in deep, fertile, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. It will reach an ultimate height of 35m and a spread of 25m.

Quercus rubra

Red Oak. Fast growing, large broad headed tree with smooth, greyish brown or dark grey bark and large oval, rich green leaves, which turn yellow to red-brown in autumn. Deciduous.

Grow in deep, fertile, well-drained, lime-free soil in sun or partial shade. It will reach an ultimate height of 25m and a spread of 20m.
