Digitalis x mertonensis
Foxglove. A robust, clump-forming perennial
which has lance-shaped, toothed, glossy, dark green leaves. In spring and early
summer, racemes of crushed strawberry-pink flowers are borne on tall spikes.
Grow in any soil apart from soils which are
excessively wet or dry, prefers humus-rich soil in partial shade. It will reach
a height of 90cm and a spread of 30cm.

Digitalis purpurea
Common Foxglove. A variable, rosette forming
perennial which has lance-shaped, toothed, glossy, dark green or sometimes
white-woolly leaves. In early summer, racemes of purple, pink, or white flowers are borne on long
spikes.
Grow in any soil apart from soils which are
excessively wet or dry, prefers humus-rich soil in partial shade. It will reach
a height of 1-2m and a spread of up to 60cm.
