Castanea sativa
Sweet Chestnut. A fast growing broadly columnar tree which has spirally furrowed bark with age. It has toothed glossy dark green leaves and with age will bear edible fruits. Deciduous.
Grows in deep, well-drained loamy soil in sun or partial shade. It will reach an ultimate height of 30m and a spread of 15m.
