Blue’
A tree of broadly columnar habit with large
dark green leaves and mauve ‘foxglove’ flowers produced in May. This selection
is known for its more reliable flowering. Deciduous.
Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil
in full sun. Wood which hasn’t hardened off before winter and exposed flower
buds may be damaged by late frosts. It will reach a height of 4m and a spread of
3m in 10 years.
