Rubus 'Beneden'

A spreading, deciduous shrub which has arching, thornless branches, peeling bark, and broadly ovate, shallowly lobed, dark green leaves. In late spring and early summer, solitary, rose-like, saucer-shaped, pure white flowers are borne.

Grow in moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. It will reach a height and spread of 3m.

Rubus cockburnianus

A thicket forming shrub which has arching branches with prickly shoots which are brilliant white in winter. In summer it has dark green diamond-shaped leaves which are white-hairy underneath. In summer it produces racemes of saucer-shaped purple flowers which are followed by round, black fruits.

Grow in moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun to get the best colour from the winter shoots. It will reach a height and spread of 2.5m.

Rubus tricolor

A prostrate, evergreen shrub with both creeping and arching shoots which are covered in conspicious red bristles. Ovate entire or very shallowly lobed, glossy, dark green leaves, are heart-shaped at the bases and white hairy beneath. In summer it produces racemes of saucer-shaped white flowers which are followed by raspberry like red fruits.

Grow in moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun to get the best colour from the winter shoots. It will reach a height of 60cm and its spread is indefinate.
