Spartium junceum

Spanish Broom. An upright shrub with slender, dark green shoots and few linear-oblong to narrowly lance-shaped dark green leaves which are silky-hairy on the undersides. A profusion of fragrant, pea-like, golden yellow flowers are borne in terminal racemes to 45cm long from July to September. Flowers are followed by flattened, dark brown seed pods.

Grow in moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. It will reach a height and spread of 3m.
